The list of intangible cultural heritage values of RA is replenished by new elements

On February 15, a draft decree of the Government of the Republic of Armenia "On Making amendments to Decree No. 310-Ա of the Government of the Republic of Armenia of 11 March 2010" was submitted to the confirmation of the Government of Armenia. The aim of the aforementioned draft decree is the replenishment of the existing list of intangible cultural heritage values of RA, the necessity of which is conditioned by the UNESCO Convention on the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of 2003 and law provisions of the Republic of Armenia on Intangible Cultural Heritage. The adoption of the project is important in the light of the submission of new applications from the Republic of Armenia for inclusion in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. With the draft decree the list of intangible cultural heritage values of RA, which consists of 24 elements, is replenished by 8. Those values are “Armenian letters art and its cultural detections” “Making fruit oghi”, ”Tradition of making and using matson”, ”Traditional carpet making”, “Tamzara”, “Tar and Tar making”, “Winemaking”, “Sahari”. The list of intangible cultural heritage includes elements of traditional culture, specifically reflecting the national identity and cultural uniqueness of the Armenian people. Safeguarding and popularization of this values greatly contribute to the process of transferring of national cultural heritage to the generations and to raise the recognition of Armenia in the international arena.
