Armenian traditional folk dance on UNESCO cultural heritage list

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has included the Armenian folk dance Kochari into its list of intangible cultural heritage. “Kochari, traditional group dance, just inscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity,” reads a statement on the organization’s Twitter page. The UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee for Safeguarding Intangible Cultural Heritage meets every year to evaluate and decide nominations. Its twelfth session is taking place in Jeju Island (Republic of Korea) from Monday 4 to Saturday 9 December 2017.
